Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 Advanced

This 1-day course builds on the skills and concepts taught in Dreamweaver 8: Basic. Students will learn how to apply CSS styles, manage site assets, create interactive forms, apply rollovers and other behaviors, and create dynamic Web pages that interact with a database.

Students will learn how to:

  • Discuss some advantages and disadvantages of using CSS; attach a style sheet and create and modify CSS styles; and define content sections by using tags with IDs.
  • Create, update, and detach library items; create a page template, create pages based on a template, and apply a template to an existing page; identify the function of head elements and meta tags; and add keywords and a description to a Web site.
  • Create interactive forms and apply a variety of input components, and set the tab order of input fields to enhance the usability and accessibility of a form.
  • Create a navigation bar that uses rollover images, create a swap image, and create a user-triggered action.
  • Insert layers by using the Draw Layer tool; manipulate the position, size, and visibility of layers by using the Layers panel; and control layer visibility dynamically.
  • Insert Flash buttons and Flash text in a Web page, add Flash and FlashPaper files, and add Windows Media Player movie files and QuickTime movie files.
  • Discuss dynamic sites, and set up a dynamic site by using the Databases panel; create a recordset by using the Bindings panel, and insert a recordset navigation bar; create a master/detail page set to display summary and detail information; and create a search page and a results page to add search functionality to a recordset.
  • Check for browser-specific errors by using the Check Target Browsers feature and the Target Browser Check panel, and apply the Check Browser behavior
