JavaScript Programming

JavaScript programming is designed to provide a guide for the beginning programmer to develop Web applications using the JavaScript programming language. This five-day course introduces users to the basic JavaScript programming concepts along with the syntax to implement them. Students should pursue this course if they want to learn about the advanced JavaScript features including DHTML programming, debugging tools, database interaction, interaction with Java

After completing this course, students will know how to:

• Create an HTML document and use the SCRIPT tag and comments
• Use variables and functions, JavaScript objects, events, and event handlers.
• Use data types, arrays, expressions, and operators.
• Use the decision-making statements and loops.
• Work with windows, frames, location, history, and navigator objects.
• Use the form elements; and validate data using hidden form fields, event handlers, methods, and properties.
• Use the dynamic object model, cascading style sheets, and animations.
• Use query strings and cookies.
• Use debugging techniques; and work with Netscape JavaScript debugger and Microsoft script debugger.
• Use server-side JavaScript; create LiveWire applications; use LiveWire core objects; and create a Guest Book using LiveWire.
• Create ASP applications; use ASP object collections and ASP core objects; and create a guest book by using ASP.
• Work with basic database structure and database management systems; create database connectivity using LiveWire; and create database connectivity using Active server pages.
• Use Java; work with LiveConnect, Java, and JavaScript; and use Plug-Ins and ActiveX

Target audience

Students should have familiarity with personal computers and the use of the keyboard and mouse. Students should have experience of using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (or later) or Netscape Navigator 4 (or later).
